Dubai visa reforms and updates 2024

• 09^th October, 2024 Residence Visa Holders, As announced by The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, foreign nationals holding expired residence permits are granted a 2-months grace period, starting from September 1, 2024, to renew their residency visa status or leave the country without being subjected to any kind of penalty. This grace period ends on the 31st of October, 2024.
• 09^th October, 2024 Nomad Visa–officially introduced in 2021–was a strategy to attract remote workers and digital nomads to the UAE. Also the ability to live in the country while being employed by companies outside the UAE has made it more tempting for nationalities residing outside the Emirates. Below are the reforms and updates on the issuance of Nomad Visa for 2024 ;
  Fully Online Application Process An important update, starting from 2024, on the issuance of Dubai Visa is the introduction and implementation of a fully online visa application system. Now you can submit your documents online. Also you can make the required payments and keep track of your application status via your smart device, therefore, making travel plans easy and stress free.
  Extension of Validity Periods Nomad visa holders now have the possibility of staying in UAE for a longer period, as the authorities in charge have extended the validity period of Nomad visas. With this update a Nomad Visa holder has the option of staying either one year or two years in the country.
  Granted Multiple entry Options 2024 updates have also allowed Nomad visa holders flexibility to enter and leave the country multiple times ( multiple entry options ) while maintaining their residency status.
• 13^th December, 2023 Bosnia and Herzegovina passport holders can now enter the UAE visa free and obtain an on-arrival visa. This regulation applies for those traveling for tourism, business and other short-term visits into the UAE. The move to eliminate the need for visa for Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens symbolizes the deepening diplomatic connections between the two countries that result in smooth travel for their citizens.

• 27^th September, 2023 The UAE announced its plans to implement the GCC visa which will operate just like the Schengen visa. This visa will allow travellers to enter any of the GCC countries, which includes, the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain without any constraints. Currently the GCC countries residents can move across borders without limitations, but foreigners must apply for visa to be allowed entry.

• 25^th July, 2023 The 90 days leisure visa was re-introduced after it was scrapped off in 2022. travellers who wish to extend their stay in the UAE to explore more can apply for this visa. The visa is available for all nationalities and can be extended without exiting the country at an additional cost.

• 31^st May, 2023 The UAE Immigration eliminated the 10-day grace period for prepaid visit visa holders. You can now only stay for 30 or 60 days, according to your visa validity, after which you must exit the country. If you wish to extend your stay in the UAE, you must apply for visa extension, otherwise, just exit the country to avoid overstaying penalties.

• 06^th February, 2023 ICP introduced a new service that allows prepaid visa holders to extend their 30- or 60-days visa by exiting the country and then coming back.

• 23^rd January, 2023 You will be charged 100 AED per service offered by the UAE ICP. The charges are appliable to those applying for an Emirates ID, visit visa, resident visa among other services.
