Sleep on the dhow inside the fjords. Dinner on deck, breakfast on the water.
You leave Dubai at 06:00, cross into Oman at Tibat, and board a wooden dhow at Khasab harbour by 10:00. The day runs at the dhow's pace: spinner dolphins at the Khor Sham entrance, snorkelling at Telegraph Island, lunch, then the slow cruise deeper into the fjord as the afternoon light drops. The dhow anchors in the Sham 2 bay. There is no artificial light within 15 kilometres. Dinner is cooked on deck. You sleep on a mattress on the open water under the Musandam night sky. Breakfast is ready at 07:00 the following morning.

By 15:30, most day-trip dhows are heading back to Khasab harbour. The overnight dhow anchors further inside Khor Sham. The noise stops. The light changes. The Milky Way is visible from October through March, when there is no cloud cover. Most guests say the evening and the night are what they remember, not just the day.
The spinner pod meets the dhow at the first bend of Khor Sham, roughly 30 minutes after Khasab harbour.
Snorkelling at 2 to 4 metres depth around the 1864 British cable station ruins. Coral and reef fish.
Fresh fish and grills cooked on the dhow as the mountain faces go dark. Arabic coffee and dates after.
The dhow anchors in the Sham 2 bay. The nearest town lights are at least 15 kilometres away. Milky Way visible October to March on clear nights.
The overnight dhow cruise is the centrepiece of the Musandam tour range from Dubai. The full day on the water plus the night on the fjord is the experience that guests consistently describe as the reason they came. If you want to add the mountain dimension on day two, the overnight dhow combined with the Jebel Harim mountain safari continues into the following morning with a 4WD ascent to 1,784 metres. Guests travelling from Abu Dhabi can book the overnight dhow from Abu Dhabi with a direct transfer, minimum 4 guests.
