Safety is the top priority, with daily testing and maintenance carried out on the zip line and other installations. The teams responsible keep a documented safety record and regular maintenance log for the facilities, equipment and the park. The facility also holds liability insurance.
The Jebel Jais Flight has a strong safety record for riders, with no guest fatalities on the zipline itself. The 2018 incident often linked to Jebel Jais did not involve a member of the public on the ride. On 29 December 2018, a UAE National Search and Rescue Centre helicopter was on a mission to airlift an injured hiker when it struck the zipline cable and crashed, and all four crew on board were sadly lost. Ras Al Khaimah's authorities ordered a full investigation, the operator temporarily closed the line, and the zipline reopened after safety inspections and revised flight-path procedures around the attraction. No members of the public, staff or facilities on the mountain were harmed in that incident.
A participant's weight and height are the main deciding factors. The eligible body weight range is between 40 kg and 130 kg , and the minimum height is 122 cm. Anyone outside this range cannot use the zip line, because bodyweight affects the quality and safety of the experience. Participants under 18 who meet all the criteria can ride alone, but must bring a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian and be accompanied by one of them to the facility. Participants should also have a good medical background and must not be under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or any substance that impairs judgement.
Take home your own action-packed memories from Jebel Jais. Guests can rent a GoPro at the facility for AED 129 plus VAT, making it easy to record the whole zipline experience. If you already own a GoPro, you are welcome to bring and use it, as long as it meets safety requirements.
For safety reasons, personal belongings are not permitted during the adventure, as loose items can pose a risk at high speeds. Small items such as mobile phones may be carried at your own risk, but phones cannot be used while on the zipline. Secure storage is available on site.
