Do you need a visa for Singapore if you live in Dubai?
It comes down to your passport, not your UAE residence. Singapore lets many nationalities in visa-free for a short visit, and requires a visa from others. Emirati nationals, like all GCC nationals, are visa-free, and so are Filipino passport holders. Indian, Pakistani, Egyptian, Bangladeshi and Chinese nationals, among others, need a visa.
| Your passport | What you need |
|---|---|
| Emirati, Filipino, and other visa-free passports | No visa, up to 30 days on a social visit pass |
| Indian, Pakistani, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Chinese and similar | Singapore visit visa, through an agent or sponsor |
This guide is mainly for the second group, the visa-required passports, because that is where the process has a twist worth understanding.
Why you cannot just apply online
Singapore does not accept a direct individual tourist visa application. If your passport needs a visa, the application must be submitted by an authorised visa agent, or by a local contact or sponsor in Singapore who files Form 14A on your behalf. There is no public portal where a tourist can self-file and pay.
This is the single thing that trips up UAE residents, who expect an online eVisa like other countries. It is also why most applicants from Dubai go through a visa agent, which handles the Form 14A and the submission for you.
The arrival card everyone needs
Every foreign visitor to Singapore must submit the SG Arrival Card before arrival, whether you have a visa or travel visa-free. It is free, done on the official ICA MyICA portal or app, and the window is the three days before you arrive. It also carries a short health declaration.
Because it is free and official, be wary of sites that charge a fee to do it for you. Submit it yourself in the three days before you fly, after you have your flight and hotel details.
What documents do you need?
For a visa-required passport, the file is straightforward, and the agent or sponsor assembles it with you. You will typically need:
- A passport valid for at least six months, with two blank pages
- Your valid UAE residence visa and Emirates ID, with at least three months left
- A recent photo, 35 by 45 mm, on a white background
- A confirmed return or onward flight, and a hotel booking
- Three months of personal bank statements
- Proof of your job, such as a salary certificate, NOC or trade licence
- Form 14A, which the agent or your Singapore sponsor completes

How to apply for a Singapore visit visa from Dubai
- Check whether your passport needs a visa. If it is visa-free, you only complete the arrival card.
- If you need a visa, use an authorised visa agent, or a local contact in Singapore who can sponsor you.
- Prepare your documents and photo, and have the agent or sponsor complete Form 14A.
- The agent submits your application to ICA and pays the SGD 30 fee.
- Receive the approved e-visa, then complete the free SG Arrival Card before you fly.
How much does a Singapore visa cost from Dubai?
The government fee to ICA is SGD 30, about AED 85. On top of that there is the agent or service charge, because the application must be submitted through an agent or sponsor. The total varies by provider and speed, so confirm it before you apply.
| Item | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| ICA visa fee | SGD 30, about AED 85 | The government fee |
| Agent or service charge | Varies | For submission via an authorised agent |
| SG Arrival Card | Free | Mandatory for everyone |
AED is approximate, at about 1 SGD to 2.85 AED. Confirm the current fees before you apply.
How long does it take, and how long can you stay?
Processing usually takes a few working days, and the stay granted is up to 30 days. A single-entry visit visa covers one trip, and a multiple-entry visa can be valid for up to two years, with each visit as a short stay. The actual length of stay is set by the officer at the airport on your social visit pass, not by the visa alone, so carry your return ticket and hotel booking.
What the officer is looking for
Singapore is efficient and the bar is clear: a genuine short visit by someone with the funds for it and a reason to return. Your bank statements, job letter, return ticket and hotel booking answer that. Proof of funds matters, and a rough guide of a few hundred dirhams a day is reasonable to show.
If your documents are consistent, your trip is clearly planned, and you have completed the arrival card, Singapore is one of the smoothest entries from the UAE. The two things people get wrong are trying to self-apply, and forgetting the arrival card.
Singapore visit visa from Dubai by nationality
Your passport decides whether you need a visa at all. Indian and Pakistani passport holders are the largest visa-required groups from Dubai. Start with your situation:
Travelling elsewhere too? A UAE residence opens easy entry to several countries. See the full picture on our visa guide hub.
When it is simple, and when to get help
If your passport is visa-free, Singapore is simple: complete the arrival card and go. It is worth getting help when:
- your passport needs a visa and you have no local sponsor in Singapore
- you want the Form 14A and submission handled by an authorised agent
- you are travelling as a family or group
- your finances are complex or you have been refused before
