The 90-day on-arrival stamp cannot be extended in-country. Once the 90 days are used, exit is the only option. The A2A change handles the exit and new tourist visa in one same-day service. The 14-day preapproved permit can be extended once at ICP or GDRFA only. The 60-day permit cannot be extended. When the permit ends and exit is required, the A2A change provides a new standard tourist visa on re-entry not a new permit. The person re-enters on a new 30-day or 60-day prearranged tourist visa arranged through a licensed agency as part of the A2A service.
For 30-day on-arrival nationals the Oman land border exit gives a fresh free 30-day stamp on re-entry the lower-cost option. However, the A2A change is also available for those who prefer the airport environment, need a 60-day visa rather than a 30-day stamp, or want the process fully managed. Two 30-day in-country extensions are available without exit. After both are used, exit is required for any further stay. The A2A change provides a fresh 30-day or 60-day tourist visa without the complication of the Oman land border no Oman visa required, fully managed. If in-country extension is still available, it is the lower-cost option at AED 1,190 per extension. If both are used, A2A is the clean next step. When a UAE residence visa is cancelled, a 30-day grace period applies from the ICP system cancellation date. Full detail on the grace period page. On-arrival passport holders can exit at the Oman land border on or before day 30 and re-enter on a free on-arrival stamp no new visa cost. The A2A change is also available for those who prefer the airport route or need a specific visa type. The Oman exit is the lower-cost option for this group.
The A2A change is the recommended route for this group. After exit the person needs a new prearranged tourist visa to re-enter and doing this via the Oman land border may also require an Oman visa, adding complication under grace period time pressure. For nationalities that can use the Oman land border and get a free stamp like 30-day on-arrival nationals the land border is cheaper. For everyone else, especially Pakistan, India, Jordan and South Africa nationals, the A2A removes the Oman visa complication entirely.
