Itinerary Explained

Here’s how Arabiers has organised the 12 days:

Explore the Hast Imam complex, Chorsu Bazaar and Tashkent City Park. Overnight in Tashkent.

Nukus → Muynak → Aral Sea

Fly to Nukus and continue to Muynak for the ship graveyard and museum. Cross the Ustyurt plateau to the Aral Sea for a campfire dinner and overnight in a yurt camp.

Aral Sea and Ustyurt

See sunrise over the sea, Kurgancha Kala, Cape Aktumsuk, dramatic canyons and an ancient nomad cemetery.

Aral Sea → Nukus

Visit Barsakelmes salt lake, Sudochie Lake and the Mizdakhan necropolis before returning to Nukus.

Nukus → Khiva

Travel through the desert via Kyzyl-Kala, Toprak-Kala and Ayaz-Kala.

Khiva — Ichan Kala

Tour the Kunya Ark, Pahlavan Mahmud mausoleum, Kalta Minor, Tash-Khovli Palace, Muhammad Rahim Khan madrasah and Juma Mosque.

Cross the Kyzylkum desert to Bukhara, then explore the Ismail Samani mausoleum, the Ark, Poi Kalon, the trading domes and Lyabi-Hauz.

See Registan Square, Gur-e-Amir and the Konigil Meros silk-paper workshop. Continue with Shah-i-Zinda, the Imam Al-Bukhari complex, Ulugbek’s observatory, Bibi-Khanym Mosque and Siab Bazaar, then return to Tashkent.

Breakfast and transfer to the airport.

Visa: Uzbekistan is visa-free for 30 days for UAE passport holders and qualifying UAE residents, provided the residence visa is valid for at least 90 days on entry and the passport for at least 180 days.
  • Best time to travel: mid-March to mid-June and mid-September to mid-November. July and August are hot but quieter.
  • Where it starts: the tour begins inside Uzbekistan. International flights are not included.
