How to Plan a Jebel Jais Zipline Trip from Dubai Zipline rider soaring above the rugged Jebel Jais mountains in Ras Al Khaimah from Dubai

How to Plan a Jebel Jais Zipline Trip from Dubai

Current status (checked ): Jebel Jais is open and the Jais Flight is running on its normal Wednesday to Sunday schedule. If the mountain road or the zipline is closed for weather or maintenance, we rebook your slot at no charge.
Quick answer: A Jebel Jais zipline trip from Dubai is a half-day commitment: 1.5 to 2 hours each way, about 90 minutes on the mountain for the zipline itself, plus whatever you add on. The zipline runs Wednesday to Sunday only. Book a morning slot, allow AED 360 to 450 per adult for the Jais Flight ticket, and add AED 250 to 350 for a private return transfer from Dubai. Two adults with transfer land at roughly AED 1,080 on a weekday or AED 1,350 at the weekend.

Most people get one thing wrong about this trip: they treat it as a two-hour drive and nothing else. It is a day with four decisions in it, and the order you make them in decides whether you fly or stand at a closed gate. Here is the order we use when we plan it for guests.

Step 1: Pick the day

The Jais Flight and the Sky Tour operate Wednesday to Sunday and on public holidays. They do not run on Monday or Tuesday, so a Monday plan is a plan to look at the mountain. Weekend prices (Friday to Sunday) and public holiday prices are higher than Wednesday and Thursday, so if your dates are flexible, a Wednesday or Thursday saves money and queues.

Season Zipline operating window Notes
Winter (October to April) 9:30 to 16:00 Peak season. Book 1 to 2 weeks ahead for weekends.
Summer (May to September) 10:30 to 16:00 Hot even at altitude. Summer discounts are common. Early slots only.
Ramadan Reduced hours, typically to early afternoon Confirm the slot when booking. Timings change year to year.
Weather rule: the zipline runs in light rain but closes in high wind, heavy rain or thunderstorms. The whole mountain closed from mid-December 2025 to 31 January 2026 after flooding and a rockslide on the summit road, and the Sky Tour did not return until 18 February 2026. In winter, book a slot you can move rather than a fixed-date flight into Dubai around it.

Step 2: Pick the ticket

Three experiences share the summit and they are not interchangeable. Pick by what you want to feel, not by price alone.

Experience What it is Time on site Guide price per adult Best for
Jais Flight World's longest zipline, 2.83 km, Superman position, up to 160 km/h, about 3 minutes in the air About 90 minutes from registration AED 360 weekday, AED 450 weekend First-timers who want the record and the adrenaline
Jais Sky Tour Six connected ziplines totalling 5 km, seated harness, up to 60 km/h, includes the UAE's highest sky bridge About 2 hours AED 280 weekday, AED 350 weekend Families, nervous flyers, anyone who wants to look at the view rather than blur past it
Sky Tour + Flight combo Both experiences in one visit About 3 hours Priced on request Anyone making the trip once and wanting everything
Jais Sledder Mountain toboggan, you control the brakes, up to 40 km/h, about 8 minutes About 30 minutes Walk-in only, around AED 50 Children from 5 upwards with an adult. Not bookable in advance.
Our honest steer: if you only have the budget for one ticket and you are coming from Dubai for the day, take the Jais Flight. The Sky Tour is a better value per minute, but nobody drives two hours to tell their friends they did the second-longest thing on the mountain.

Step 3: Pick the slot

Slots are fixed. You check in 30 minutes before, so the slot time decides your pick-up time, which decides what time you wake up. Morning slots have calmer wind, which matters because afternoon wind is the usual reason for delays.

Zipline slot Pick-up from Dubai Pick-up from Ras Al Khaimah Back in Dubai by
9:30 7:15 8:00 About 14:00, or 16:30 with lunch and the viewing deck
10:00 7:30 8:30 About 14:30
11:00 8:30 9:30 About 15:30
12:00 9:30 10:30 About 16:30
14:00 11:30 12:30 About 18:30
15:00 12:30 13:30 About 19:30
16:00 13:30 14:30 About 20:30, after sunset at the viewing deck in winter

Step 4: Decide how to get there

There are four ways to cover the 150 km or so from Dubai to the summit. The right one depends on who is driving home after the adrenaline wears off.

Self-drive

Take the E311 (Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road) or the E611 north to Ras Al Khaimah, then follow the signs for Jebel Jais. Allow 1 to 1.5 hours to RAK city and another 40 to 50 minutes of mountain road to the top. The summit road is paved and well maintained but it is steep, winding and has no fuel: fill up at the ADNOC at the foot of the mountain. Parking at the Jais Flight welcome centre is free. If you want the full route breakdown, tolls and fuel costs, read our driving guide to Jebel Jais from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Private return transfer

This is what most of our Dubai guests choose. A sedan or SUV collects you from your hotel or home at the pick-up time in the table above, waits on the mountain, and brings you back. Guide price AED 250 to 350 round trip from Dubai or Sharjah for the vehicle, not per person, so it gets cheaper the more of you there are. Abu Dhabi is AED 350 to 450.

Public transport

Ras Al Khaimah runs a seasonal bus from the Al Marjan Island and Al Hamra hotel zone up to the mountain in the cooler months. It is useful if you are already staying in RAK. From Dubai it is not practical: there is no direct public bus to the summit, so you would be combining an intercity bus to RAK with a taxi for the last 30 km.

Organised day tour

Ticket, transfer and sometimes lunch bundled into one price, usually AED 500 to 800 per person. Convenient, but check what the lunch actually is and whether the slot is a morning one before you compare prices.

Step 5: Check everyone qualifies

  • Weight: 40 kg to 130 kg. This is checked on a scale at registration and there are no exceptions, because body weight controls your speed and your landing. A 39.5 kg teenager does not fly.
  • Height: minimum 122 cm.
  • Age: no fixed minimum if the weight and height are met, but anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a parent or guardian and that adult present at the welcome centre.
  • ID: original passport or Emirates ID for every rider. Photos on a phone are not accepted.
  • Health: not suitable during pregnancy, or for anyone with serious heart, back or neck conditions. Prosthetic limbs are generally fine; tell us when you book so the team can prepare.

Full detail on documents and exceptions is in our Jebel Jais requirements guide.

Step 6: Budget the whole day

The ticket is the headline, but it is not the total. Here is what a real trip costs for the two most common groups, using our guide rates.

Item 2 adults, weekday 2 adults, weekend 2 adults + 2 teens, weekend
Jais Flight tickets AED 720 AED 900 AED 1,800
Private return transfer from Dubai (per vehicle) AED 300 AED 300 AED 300 (SUV)
GoPro rental (optional, per rider) AED 129 + VAT each AED 129 + VAT each AED 129 + VAT each
Lunch at the summit (1484 by Puro or Red Rock BBQ) AED 150 to 250 pp AED 150 to 250 pp AED 150 to 250 pp
Core total (tickets + transfer) AED 1,020 AED 1,200 AED 2,100
Where people overspend: buying the GoPro for every rider. The welcome centre emails you the official photos taken during the flight regardless. One GoPro per couple, passed between flights, is enough footage for anyone.

Step 7: Dress and pack for the summit

  • Clothing: sportswear and closed shoes. No skirts, dresses, flip-flops or national dress: the harness and the launch position rule them out. Tie long hair back.
  • Layers: the summit is 10 degrees cooler than Dubai and the wind on the platform is real. Bring a light jacket even in March and October. In January it can be close to zero at 9:00.
  • Sun: sunglasses, sunscreen and a cap for the viewing deck. You cannot wear the cap on the zipline.
  • Pockets: nothing loose. Phones go in the harness pocket and cannot be used in flight. Lockers at the welcome centre take keys, wallets and small bags, not luggage.
  • Documents: original ID for every rider and the signed waiver for anyone under 18.

Step 8: Build the day around the flight

This is the itinerary we run most often for Dubai guests on a 9:30 slot. It gets you home before dinner and still gives you the mountain, not just the zipline.

  • 07:15 Pick-up in Dubai. Coffee stop at the ADNOC at the foot of the mountain around 08:45.
  • 09:00 Arrive at the Jais Flight welcome centre. Check in, weigh in, waiver, safety briefing, harness.
  • 09:30 Shuttle to the launch platform. Two riders launch together. Three minutes of flight, then a short second line back to the welcome centre.
  • 10:45 Collect your photos by email, return the GoPro, debrief on the terrace.
  • 11:15 Drive five minutes to the Jais Viewing Deck Park. Telescopes, picnic terraces, the coast on a clear day.
  • 12:30 Lunch at 1484 by Puro (book a table in advance) or Red Rock BBQ for something casual.
  • 14:00 Depart. Back in Dubai around 16:00 to 16:30.

If you would rather see sunset from the deck, take the 15:00 or 16:00 slot in winter and accept a 20:00 return. For what the day looks like minute by minute at the welcome centre, read what to expect on the day of your Jebel Jais zipline.

Add a second experience to the same trip

Ras Al Khaimah is compact. Guests who want a full day often pair the morning zipline with an afternoon Ras Al Khaimah desert safari, with the same vehicle carrying them from the mountain to the dunes. Dhayah Fort (234 steps, 16th century) and the abandoned pearling village of Jazirat Al Hamra are both on the way back towards Dubai and need under an hour each.

What if the mountain closes?

It happens, and it happened for six weeks last winter. Closures come from three sources: wind (the zipline closes, the mountain stays open), heavy rain or storms (both close for the day), and road damage (everything closes until repairs are done). The operator announces closures on its own channels, usually the night before or early morning.

Our policy: if the operator closes the zipline on your date, we move your booking to any other open date at no charge. If none suits you, we refund the ticket. Transfers already on the road are charged at cost.

Practical advice: do not plan the zipline for your last morning in the UAE with a flight that afternoon. Put it in the middle of the trip so a closure costs you a day, not the experience.

FAQ's

About 150 km by road. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours door to door, which includes 40 to 50 minutes on the mountain road itself. The one-hour figure you may see elsewhere is the drive to Ras Al Khaimah city, not to the summit.

Yes. On a 9:30 slot with a private transfer you leave Dubai at 7:15 and are back by about 16:00 with lunch and the viewing deck included. Our one-day Jebel Jais zipline trip article covers the energy and timing side in more detail.

Wednesday to Sunday and on public holidays. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Hours shift by season and shorten during Ramadan.

For two adults with a private return transfer: about AED 1,020 on a weekday and AED 1,200 at the weekend, before lunch and GoPro rental. The Jais Flight ticket is AED 360 to 450 per adult and the transfer AED 250 to 350 per vehicle.

Jais Flight if you want the record and the speed. Sky Tour if you want to see the mountains, are travelling with children or nervous first-timers, or want two hours of experience rather than three minutes. The combo covers both in about three hours.

40 kg minimum and 130 kg maximum, checked on a scale at registration. Minimum height is 122 cm. There are no exceptions either way.

Yes, if they meet the 40 kg and 122 cm minimums. Under 18s need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian, and that adult must be present at the welcome centre. The Jais Sledder is the option for younger children from age 5, riding with an adult.

The operator closes for high wind, heavy rain or road damage. When that happens we move your booking to another open date free of charge, or refund the ticket if no date works. Keep the zipline away from your last day in the UAE so a closure does not cost you the experience.

You can buy on the day if slots remain, but weekends and public holidays in winter sell out. Book one to two weeks ahead for a weekend, a few days ahead for a weekday.

The Jais Viewing Deck Park (AED 10 entry), marked hiking trails, the Jais Sledder, Bear Grylls Explorers Camp, stargazing sessions, and two restaurants at the summit: 1484 by Puro and Red Rock BBQ. An 80 km Grand Loop trail and a multi-day via ferrata were announced in September 2026 for the 2026/27 season.
