Family Things to Do in Abu Dhabi: What Works at Every Age

A four-year-old, a ten-year-old and a teenager need three different Abu Dhabis. After a decade of arranging family trips here, we know which attractions genuinely work for each age, which are pram-friendly, and where the desert safari needs adjusting for little ones. That is how this guide is organised, and it now includes the new Natural History Museum, the best family opening in years.

The best family activities in Abu Dhabi depend on your children's ages. Under-fives do best at Warner Bros. World's indoor lands, The National Aquarium and the Corniche family beach. Ages six to twelve add the desert safari's camel rides and sandboarding, SeaWorld, Yas Waterworld and the new Natural History Museum, where Stan the Tyrannosaurus rex has become the single most requested sight among our family guests since it opened in November 2025. Teenagers rate Ferrari World's coasters, dune buggies, CLYMB and kayaking highest. Whatever the ages, the plan matters more than the list: one anchor attraction per day plus pool or beach time beats three rushed stops, and from May to September the afternoons belong indoors.

Ages 0 to 5

Gentle, indoor, pram-friendly

Warner Bros. World: fully indoors, gentle rides in every land, character meets. The most reliable full family day on Yas.
The National Aquarium: calm pacing and buggy-friendly walk-through tunnels.
Corniche family beach: lifeguarded, shaded play areas, shallow entry.
Umm Al Emarat Park: the city's best playground plus the animal barn, and it costs almost nothing.

Ages 6 to 12

The golden window: everything works

Evening desert safari: camel rides, sandboarding, henna and the camp show, from AED 189 per person. Children this age remember it for years, and our family vehicles seat everyone together. See the evening safari.

Winter day, ages 6 to 12

Grand Mosque morning slot (free entry, source: szgmc.gov.ae), lunch downtown, pool break, evening desert safari with the camp dinner. Home by nine.

Summer day, any age

Natural History Museum at opening, Warner Bros. World afternoon, Yas Mall dinner. Air conditioning end to end.

Two-day split

Day one city icons at child pace with our half-day private city tour (AED 550, up to 5 guests), day two a single Yas park done properly.

Grandparents along

Is the desert safari suitable for young children?

The camp, camel rides and sandboarding suit all ages. Dune bashing has minimum age guidance, and we can arrange a gentler drive or a direct camp transfer for families with infants. Tell us the ages when booking and we set the vehicle up accordingly.

Which is better for young kids, Ferrari World or Warner Bros.?

Warner Bros. World, clearly. Ferrari World is built around big coasters; its junior zone is good but limited. Under-tens get a fuller day at Warner Bros.

Is the new Natural History Museum good for children?

Excellent, especially ages six to twelve. Stan the Tyrannosaurus rex is the headline, and the whole museum is built as a walk through the story of life, which children follow naturally. Give it two to three hours.

Is Abu Dhabi pram-friendly?

Very. Malls, museums, the Corniche promenade and all Yas parks are step-free with lifts throughout. The Grand Mosque asks prams to use designated routes; staff will direct you.
