Turkey Visa from Dubai

The Turkey visa from Dubai trips up more UAE residents than almost any other, because of one rule. The quick Turkey e-visa is open to Indian, Pakistani and Filipino passport holders only if they already hold a valid Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa. A UAE residence on its own is not enough. Without that supporting visa, the route is a sticker visa through VFS Global in Dubai. Emirati nationals travel visa-free. This guide is for UAE residents travelling to Turkey.

Do you need a visa for Turkey if you live in Dubai?

It comes down to your passport, and then to whether you hold another country's visa. Emirati nationals are visa-free. Many other passports held by UAE residents are on the e-visa list, but with a condition attached that catches people out.

Who needs what to visit Turkey from the UAE
Your passport What you need
Emirati (UAE national) No visa, 90 days in any 180
Indian, Pakistani, Filipino and similar, with a valid Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa Turkey e-visa online

The e-visa catch most people miss

Read this before you apply

Turkey's e-visa is famous for being quick and online. But for Indian, Pakistani, Filipino and several other passports, it is conditional: you qualify only if you hold a valid Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa or residence permit, and your trip meets the conditions attached to it.

A UAE residence visa or Emirates ID does not unlock the e-visa. It is part of your documents, but it is not the supporting visa Turkey asks for. So a UAE resident on an Indian or Pakistani passport, without a Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa, cannot use the e-visa, and must apply for the sticker visa through VFS Global in Dubai. Getting this wrong is the single most common reason a Turkey trip from Dubai stalls.

03

The three routes, and which is yours

Route 1

Visa-free

Emirati nationals travel without a visa, up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Route 2

Conditional e-visa

Indian, Pakistani, Filipino and similar passports, only if you hold a valid Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa. Applied online, decided fast.

Route 3

Sticker visa, VFS

The same passports without that supporting visa. Applied at VFS Global in Dubai, with full documents.

If you qualify: the Turkey e-visa

If you hold a valid Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa, the Turkey e-visa is quick and online. You apply at the official portal, pay by card, and usually have the approval within minutes to a day.

  1. Confirm you hold a valid Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa or residence permit.
  2. Go to the official portal, evisa.gov.tr, and complete the form.
  3. Enter your passport and the supporting visa details.
  4. Pay the fee, usually USD 20 to 60, by card.
  5. Receive the e-visa by email, print it, and carry it with the supporting visa and your passport.

Carry the Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa you qualified on when you travel, because the airline and the Turkish border can ask to see it.

05

If you do not qualify: the sticker visa through VFS

If you do not hold a qualifying visa, you apply for a sticker visa at VFS Global in Dubai. This is the route for most Indian and Pakistani residents of Dubai. You book an appointment, submit your documents and biometrics, and collect the passport once the visa is issued.

  • A passport valid for at least six months, with two blank pages
  • The signed application form and a recent colour photo
  • Your UAE residence visa or Emirates ID
  • A confirmed return flight and a hotel booking
  • Three months of stamped bank statements
  • An employer or sponsor NOC
  • Travel health insurance for your stay

How much does a Turkey visa cost from Dubai?

The e-visa is cheap, usually USD 20 to 60. The sticker visa costs more, from about AED 225 plus the VFS service charge. The exact amount depends on your nationality and the service, so confirm it before you apply.

Turkey visa cost from Dubai
Route Cost Processing
e-visa (with a qualifying visa) USD 20 to 60 Minutes to 24 hours
Sticker visa via VFS From about AED 225 plus VFS charge 5 to 15 working days

AED is approximate, at about 1 USD to 3.67 AED. Confirm the current fees on the official portal or with VFS before you apply.

07

How long does it take?

The e-visa is usually decided within minutes to a day, and the sticker visa takes about five to fifteen working days. In the summer and Eid peaks the sticker route can stretch to twenty working days, so apply three to four weeks before you travel if you are on that route.

08

What catches UAE travellers out

Before you book

Almost every problem with a Turkey trip from Dubai comes back to the e-visa condition. People read that the Turkey e-visa is instant and online, apply without a qualifying Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa, and are refused or stopped at check-in. The honest rule is simple: no qualifying visa means no e-visa, and the sticker visa through VFS is your route instead.

Check which route is yours before you book flights. If you hold a Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa, the e-visa takes minutes. If you do not, start the VFS sticker visa early, because it takes days, not minutes.

09

Turkey visa from Dubai by nationality

Your passport, and whether you hold another country's visa, set your route. Indian and Pakistani passport holders are the largest groups from Dubai, and most use the sticker visa. Start with your situation:

When it is simple, and when to get help

If you hold a Schengen, UK, US or Ireland visa, the e-visa is simple and you can do it yourself. It is worth getting help when:

  • you do not hold a qualifying visa and need the VFS sticker visa
  • you are unsure whether your visa or residence qualifies you for the e-visa
  • you are travelling as a family or group
  • your trip is close and the sticker route timing is tight
