Why this route is built for Downtown and Business Bay

From Downtown, Old Dubai is 20 minutes north along the creek and the beach is 20 minutes west, with your hotel in the middle. The route goes north first, because Al Fahidi and the Gold Souk are a morning place: shaded lanes, open shops, and no evening traffic on the Deira side of Al Maktoum Bridge. Lunch is taken in the same district, then the afternoon is spent on the beach side, with the Jumeirah Mosque added because it is on the way back and is the one mosque in Dubai that regularly welcomes non-Muslim visitors. The day finishes at the Dubai Fountain, and most Downtown and Business Bay hotels are a walk or a five-minute drive from Burj Lake, so you are back at your door within minutes of the 6:30pm show.

The same landmarks are run from two other pickup zones, in a different order. If you are not sure your hotel falls inside Downtown and Business Bay, the private Dubai city tour overview maps every zone and route in one place.

What you'll see

Wind-tower lanes of Al Fahidi

Coral-stone and gypsum houses with wind towers, the quarter that was Dubai before oil. Thirty minutes on foot covers the courtyards and the small galleries.

Gold Souk shop windows in Deira

Dubai Creek and the Gold Souk

A one-dirham abra crossing, then the covered lanes of the Gold Souk and the spice shops behind it. Busiest, and best, mid-morning once the wholesale buyers have been through.

Emirati lunch at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre

Lunch at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre

Machboos, harees, dates and gahwa on floor cushions in a restored courtyard, with a host who answers the questions guests feel awkward asking elsewhere. Included.

Atlantis The Palm from the crescent

Palm Jumeirah and Atlantis

The drive down the trunk of the Palm to the crescent, with the Atlantis arch as the photo stop and the Marina skyline behind you.

Jumeirah Beach with Burj Al Arab

Jumeirah Beach and Burj Al Arab

Public beach, warm shallow water and the clearest view of the Burj Al Arab sail from the sand. Bring a towel if you want to swim.

Dubai Fountain at night

The Dubai Fountain

Shows every 30 minutes from 6pm on Burj Lake, each about five minutes long to a different piece of music, with the Dubai Mall promenade for the hour after.

Burj Khalifa seen from Burj Lake at dusk

Add Burj Khalifa entry to the same day

This route ends at the Dubai Fountain, directly beneath the Burj Khalifa, but does not include the observation deck. The Burj Khalifa version of the Downtown route keeps every stop above and adds a prime-time ticket for the 124th and 125th floors, timed for the sunset slot before the 6pm fountain. From 475 AED.

The same landmarks from the other two pickup zones, plus the version with Burj Khalifa entry from Downtown.

Booking the Downtown route

1. How much does the full-day private dubai city tour from downtown cost?

The tour starts from 475 AED per booking with a private vehicle and driver, and 935 AED with a licensed guide who stays with you from pickup to drop-off. The price includes the vehicle, fuel, pickup and drop-off within Downtown and Business Bay, and the Emirati lunch at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre. Personal spending and any attraction outside the route are not included. The figure is a final total, so there is nothing to add at the end; send your date and hotel on WhatsApp and we confirm it for your group size before anything is booked.

2. Which areas does the Downtown pickup cover?

Pickup and drop-off are included from Downtown Dubai, Business Bay, DIFC, the Sheikh Zayed Road hotels between Trade Centre and Al Safa. If your hotel is outside these areas, book the route for your own zone instead: the same day is run from Dubai Airport and Deira, and from the Marina and Palm Jumeirah. Hotels on a border between two zones can usually be served by either; send the hotel name and we tell you which route gives the shortest first and last drive.

3. Is Burj Khalifa entry included on this tour?

No. This version of the Downtown route passes the Burj Khalifa and ends at the Dubai Fountain beneath it, but does not include the observation deck. If you want the 124th and 125th floors built into the day, book the Burj Khalifa version of the same route, which keeps every other stop and adds a prime-time ticket timed for the sunset slot. If you already hold your own Burj Khalifa ticket, book this tour and tell us the slot time; the driver drops you at the Dubai Mall entrance and the afternoon is reordered around it.

4. What is the difference between the driver option and the licensed guide option?

With the driver option, a professional driver takes you between the stops, waits at each one and keeps the day on time, and you explore each site yourself. With the guide option, a DET Dubai or DCT accredited guide travels with you all day, walks you through Al Fahidi and the souks, explains what you are looking at and answers questions on the spot, in English, Russian, Spanish or another language on request. First-time visitors usually take the guide; repeat visitors and families who prefer to set their own pace often take driver only.

5. How long is the tour and can it be shortened?

Around ten hours, with pickup at 10:00am and drop-off at about 7:30pm after the fountain. Roughly four hours are at the stops, two and a half are driving, and the rest is lunch and the fountain. To finish earlier, skip the fountain and the day ends at around 5:30pm. For a four to five hour private half-day Dubai city tour, ask on WhatsApp and we build a shorter route around your window; the pillar page explains what fits into a half-day from each zone.

6. What should I wear, and how much walking is involved?

Light clothes and comfortable shoes, with shoulders and knees covered for Al Fahidi, the Sheikh Mohammed Centre and the Jumeirah Mosque stop. Walking comes in short sections: about 30 minutes in Al Fahidi, up to an hour and a half around the creek and the souks, and 45 minutes to an hour on the beach and at Atlantis. Everything else is in the vehicle. From May to September the outdoor stops are kept to the morning and late afternoon and the driver carries water.

7. Is this tour suitable for children and older guests?

Yes. There is no minimum age, child seats are provided when requested at booking, and the pace at each stop is set by your group. The abra crossing and the fountain are the stops children remember. For limited mobility, the vehicle waits at every site and the walking sections can be shortened; the Sheikh Mohammed Centre is step-free, while parts of Al Fahidi and the Gold Souk have uneven paving. Mention any access needs on WhatsApp so the right vehicle is sent.

8. Can I change the route on the day, and what is the cancellation policy?

Stops can be shortened or swapped with your driver on the day. Larger additions such as Dubai Frame or the Museum of the Future need a day's notice so entry can be arranged. A full refund is given for cancellations made at least 72 hours before the start time; no-shows are charged in full. Date changes within that window are free. Tours run daily, including Fridays and public holidays.
