What is Golden Visa

What is the Dubai Golden Visa?

The Dubai Golden Visa is a long-term residence permit that lets foreign nationals live, work and study in the UAE while enjoying benefits not available to standard visa holders. Eligible groups include investors, business owners, scientists, inventors, outstanding students and graduates, frontline heroes and humanitarian pioneers, among others. Introduced in 2019 to retain and attract global talent, it grants residency for 5 or 10 years and removes the usual need for a UAE sponsor.

Updated legal basis. The programme was launched under Cabinet Decision No. 56 of 2018 and significantly expanded in October 2022 (Cabinet Resolution No. 65 of 2022), which widened eligibility and lowered the real-estate investment threshold to AED 2 million. Current categories, documents and fees are published by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) and the UAE Government Portal.
