Ski Dubai is worth visiting because it is the only place in the region where you can play in real snow all year, with skiing, snowboarding, a family Snow Park and live penguins under one roof. It holds 6,000 tonnes of real snow and keeps alpine conditions whatever the desert is doing outside, which is why it is on most first-time Dubai itineraries.
Snowy Slopes
The resort has five slopes for every level, from gentle beginner runs to the world’s first indoor black diamond. The longest run is about 400 metres with a 60 metre vertical drop, and a chairlift and tow lift carry you back to the top. There is also a dedicated freestyle zone with boxes, rails and kickers.
Snow Park
The 3,000 square metre Snow Park is built for non-skiers and families. Highlights include tobogganing, bobsled runs, snow zorbing inside a giant ball, the Snow Bullet zipline, the Mountain Thriller ride, a climbing tower, an ice cave and open snowplay areas. It is ideal for younger children and for anyone who just wants to enjoy the snow without lessons.
Penguin Encounters
Ski Dubai is home to Gentoo and King penguins, cared for to international wildlife welfare standards. The guided Penguin Encounter lasts about 40 minutes, is led by trained marine specialists, takes a maximum of 12 guests, and is not open to children under 2. Snow Park guests can also catch the free March of the Penguins, which runs several times a day.
Ski School
The Ski School offers lessons for all ages and abilities, in private one-to-one sessions or small groups, taught by professional instructors. Beginners are welcome; this is where most first-timers start.
Alpine-style dining
Warm up at the mid-mountain Avalanche Cafe, known for hot chocolate, or settle into St. Moritz Cafe for heartier alpine plates such as fondue and warm stews. The wooden interiors and slope views make a cosy break between activities.
