4

How to book Grand Mosque tickets

There are two ways to hold a valid ticket: book an individual pass on the official SZGMC website, or enter with a licensed operator who has booked you through the Centre's operator portal. Any other site selling a Grand Mosque ticket is reselling one of the two.

  1. Send your date, time and number of guests on WhatsApp, or reserve above
  2. Arabiers books your entry through the SZGMC operator portal at the AED 8 rate
  3. You receive the confirmation on WhatsApp with the meeting point and dress code brief
  4. Show the confirmation at the Fast Track lane; the buggy is waiting at the car park

Booking directly with the mosque

Individual passes are sold on the SZGMC individual booking page up to one month ahead, at AED 10 or AED 5 with an Emirates ID. The pass is shown on your phone; there is no app. Book the day before at the latest, because the 4pm to 7pm slots and Friday afternoons fill first and security will not admit a visitor without a pass.

Cancellation

Arabiers entry passes and city tours can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before the start; the Emirati-guided mosque tour up to 72 hours before. For passes bought directly from the Centre, check the terms shown at purchase; the Centre reserves the right to cancel visits without notice, which in practice happens only for state occasions.

How to skip the queue: Fast Track, buggies and timing

Queues form at two points: the 15 to 20 minute walk from the car park through Souq Al Jami' to Al Noor entrance, and the security screening at the entrance itself. Fast Track solves the second, the buggy solves the first, and timing solves both.

Visitor buggy transport from Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque car park
1Car park
Southern car parks, free
2Souq Al Jami' walk
15 to 20 min, travelators
3Al Noor entrance
Security, separate lanes
4Courtyard and arcades
Tour start point, east side
5Prayer hall
Shoes off, carpet, chandeliers
  • Fast Track, AED 20 per person:  a dedicated security lane. Saves nothing at 9am on a Tuesday, up to 30 minutes on Friday afternoons, weekend evenings and Eid.
  • Buggy:  AED 5 standard, AED 25 luxury, AED 50 air-conditioned; car park to entrance plaza.
  • Timing:  9am Tuesday to Thursday is the quietest; 4:30pm to 7pm every day is the busiest and the most beautiful.
  • Prayer times:  the main hall is briefly reserved for worshippers at each of the five prayers; be in the courtyard when Maghrib is called.

Buggy and Fast Track prices as observed by Arabiers guides on site, September 2026; confirm at the car park kiosk on the day.

Dress code, in three words

Female visitor wearing modest clothing at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Shoulders, knees, hair. Cover all three, keep the clothing loose and plain, and you are in. Shorts, leggings, skinny jeans, sleeveless tops and transparent fabric are refused at security even when the ticket is valid, and the mosque no longer lends abayas to tour groups. Arabiers guests receive an abaya and scarf in the vehicle if they need one; independent visitors should bring a long loose outfit and a scarf. The full rule for women, men and children is in the Grand Mosque dress code guide.

8

Getting there from Abu Dhabi and from Dubai

From Time Best way
Abu Dhabi Corniche or downtown hotels About 20 minutes Taxi (TransAD 600 535353), or the Entry Pass with private transfer
Abu Dhabi International Airport About 25 minutes Stopover tour with airport pick-up
Dubai Marina or Downtown Dubai 75 to 90 minutes on the E11 City tour with Grand Mosque from Dubai, private car with driver
Dubai International Airport About 90 minutes Stopover tour, timed to the connection
Own car Free parking in the southern car parks, then the buggy or the underground walk

The mosque runs no transport from hotels. A free shuttle links the mosque with Wahat Al Karama every 30 minutes from 10am to 7:15pm, and Department of Transport buses stop at the station beside the mosque. Guests from Dubai almost always pair the mosque with Qasr Al Watan or Louvre Abu Dhabi on the Abu Dhabi private city tour.

Grand Mosque tickets FAQs

AED 10 for visitors from outside the UAE and AED 5 for Emirates ID holders, introduced on 17 September 2026. Guests entering with a licensed tour operator pay AED 8, which the operator includes in the tour price. Worshippers, visitors aged 60 and over, children under three and people of determination enter free. The Light and Peace Museum and the Diya experience are ticketed separately at AED 25 each or AED 40 combined.
Not for sightseeing visitors since September 2026. It is free for worshippers, for anyone aged 60 or over, for children under three and for people of determination. Every guide and aggregator page written before September 2026 that says entry is free is out of date.
Yes. Visitors need a pre-booked online access pass shown on the phone at the visitor entrance. Worshippers enter directly without a ticket. If you arrive without a pass, security will send you to the booking page and on busy evenings the next available slot can be hours away.
The official source is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre website, szgmc.gov.ae, which sells individual passes up to one month ahead. Licensed tour operators such as Arabiers book group entry through the Centre's operator portal at the AED 8 rate and include it in the tour. Any other website selling a Grand Mosque ticket on its own is reselling one of these two.
Yes. The SZGMC booking page works from any country and takes international cards, and Arabiers confirms tour bookings with mosque entry included by WhatsApp from the UK, Europe or anywhere else before you fly. There is no need to buy on arrival.
Yes, for any sightseeing visit. Book the day before at the latest; the 4pm to 7pm slots and Friday afternoons fill first. Worshippers do not book.
Entry to the visitor route: the courtyard, the arcades, the main prayer hall and the designated photo stops, for the whole of the visiting day. The free cultural tours at 11am, 1pm and 5pm are open to any ticket holder. Not included: the Light and Peace Museum, Diya, the Fast Track lane, the buggy from the car park and the Sura night tour.
Buy the Fast Track option at AED 20 per person, which uses a dedicated security lane at Al Noor entrance. It saves nothing on a quiet weekday morning and up to 30 minutes on a Friday afternoon, a weekend evening or an Eid day. Arabiers includes it in the entry pass and in all mosque tours.
Not from the mosque itself, apart from the AED 40 museum and Diya combination. Arabiers builds the combinations as private tours: the mosque with Qasr Al Watan, Louvre Abu Dhabi or the Corniche on a half or full day city tour, and the mosque with an airport transfer on the stopover tour.
Yes, in three forms. The mosque's own cultural tours are free with any ticket, in English and Arabic, at 11am, 1pm and 5pm. A private Emirati-guided walk with Arabiers starts at AED 260 meeting at the mosque. A private tour with Sultan Karrani, a DCT-accredited Emirati guide, is AED 490 per adult.
Emirates ID holders pay AED 5 instead of AED 10. Guests of licensed tour operators pay AED 8, included in the tour. Over 60s, under threes and people of determination are free. There are no student, family or online discounts on the AED 10 visitor rate.
Check the SZGMC booking terms at the time of purchase for individual passes; the Centre's general terms allow it to cancel visits without notice. Arabiers tours with entry included can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before the start, and 72 hours for the Emirati-guided mosque tour.
No. The pass is issued on the SZGMC website and shown on your phone as a screenshot or from the confirmation email. Arabiers sends tour confirmations by WhatsApp, which is what you show the guide.
60 to 90 minutes inside for a self-guided visit, plus 15 to 20 minutes each way from the car park unless you take a buggy. With the free cultural tour and the museum, allow 2 to 3 hours. Private tours run 3 to 4 hours including transfer.
4:30pm to 5pm for the 5pm cultural tour, sunset on the marble and the lunar lighting after dark; 9am on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for the fewest people. Avoid Friday 10:30am to 12pm and public holiday evenings. Full hours are in the Grand Mosque timings guide.
Visitor admission is Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 8:30pm. Friday visitor admission is 9am to 11:30am and 2:30pm to 8:30pm. Sura night tours run daily from 9pm to 9am. Ramadan hours can vary, so check the official SZGMC schedule for your visit date.
Cover shoulders, knees and, for women, hair; keep it loose and plain. Shorts, leggings, skinny jeans, sleeveless tops and transparent fabric are refused. The mosque no longer lends abayas to tour groups; Arabiers guests receive one in the vehicle. The full rule is in the Grand Mosque dress code guide.
75 to 90 minutes by road from Dubai Marina or Downtown on the E11. A private car with driver on the Abu Dhabi city tour from Dubai is the practical option; public buses take about two and a half hours with a change. The stopover tour covers the same drive from either airport.
