The UAE's darkest sky
Al Quaa sits deep in the Abu Dhabi desert, more than 150 km from city light pollution. On a clear, moonless night, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye as a distinct band across the sky.
Spend a night under the Milky Way at Al Quaa, the UAE's darkest stargazing location. Private camp setup, Arabic hospitality, BBQ dinner on request, and a sky unlike anything in the city.
Al Quaa sits deep in the Abu Dhabi desert, more than 150 km from city light pollution. On a clear, moonless night, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye as a distinct band across the sky.
No shared campsite, no strangers around your fire. Your Arabic seating, cool box, refreshments and BBQ setup are arranged exclusively for your group at a location away from the main public viewing area.
A private vehicle collects your group from Abu Dhabi and returns you the following morning. No navigating desert roads in the dark, no concerns about mobile signal dropping before you arrive.
Arabic coffee, Karak tea, dates and soft drinks are served throughout the evening. A cool box with chilled water is kept stocked. BBQ dinner can be arranged for an additional charge.
Our team plans Al Quaa overnight trips around the lunar calendar. The Milky Way is only visible without moonlight interference. We will advise on the best nights for your travel dates.
The galactic core is visible from the UAE between May and October, peaking in July and August. The Perseids meteor shower adds to August nights. We operate during the full season window.
Al Quaa is not a resort or a managed attraction. It is a remote spot in the Abu Dhabi interior where the absence of light, sound and crowds creates conditions for genuine dark-sky viewing. On the right night, with no moon and clear air, the Milky Way stretches across the full length of the sky in a way that is simply not possible closer to the city.
Arabiers handles the logistics so you arrive with nothing to do except look up. Your private camp is set up with Arabic floor seating, refreshments and a cool box. The transfer picks you up from Abu Dhabi and brings you back the next morning. If you want a BBQ dinner, that can be arranged in advance. If you want a completely minimal setup under the stars, that works too.

The short version: a private overnight desert camping tour to Al Quaa, Abu Dhabi's premier dark-sky stargazing location. Departs from Abu Dhabi in the evening, returns the following morning. From AED 490 per person. Arabic seating, refreshments and a cool box are included. BBQ dinner and private setup arrangements are available on request.
Al Quaa sits near the Oman border, roughly 150 km south of Abu Dhabi city via E22. Because it is one of the leading desert safari experiences departing from Abu Dhabi, the journey itself is part of the experience: as the city lights fade and the sky opens up, the difference in darkness becomes obvious well before you arrive.
The al quaa desert camping experience is designed for travellers who want more than a daytime safari. The location's near-zero light pollution means that, on a moonless night, the galactic core is visible without any equipment. The camp is private, refreshments are included, and the only agenda is the sky above you. For photographers, the conditions at al quaa milky way spot represent the best opportunity in the UAE for long-exposure Milky Way shots.

Your private vehicle collects your group from any Abu Dhabi hotel or residence. The drive south on E22 takes approximately two hours as the city lights give way to open desert.
Your private camp is set up on arrival: Arabic floor seating, cushions, a cool box stocked with chilled water and soft drinks, and Arabic coffee and tea service. The automatic barrier at the entrance opens as you approach.
As the sky fully darkens, typically around 9 PM, the Milky Way becomes visible across the horizon. On peak season nights between May and October, the galactic core rises in the south-southeast direction. Allow at least 20 minutes for your eyes to fully adapt to the darkness.
If a BBQ dinner has been arranged in advance, it is served in the evening at camp. Dates, Arabic coffee and tea are available throughout the night for all guests regardless of the dinner option.
Your private setup remains for the night. The desert air at Al Quaa is cooler than the city, particularly from September onwards. A light layer is recommended even in summer.
Your vehicle returns you to Abu Dhabi in the morning. Exact return time is confirmed at booking based on your group's preferences.
