Abu Dhabi is not a city break
The emirate is 87 per cent of the UAE: a capital, an island district, a garden city, a mountain and the largest sand desert on earth, all inside one border. Ten days is what it actually takes, and almost nobody packages it.
Four bases, zero repacking stress
The route moves through four stays, city, Saadiyat, Al Ain and Liwa, with luggage handled at every step and driving days built as touring days, never as transfers endured.
A route only a ground operator can run
This circuit needs vehicles, guides and hotel relationships across the full emirate. Arabiers runs its own desert programmes in Liwa and its own fleet in the capital, which is why the route exists at all.
The Experience
Ten days inside the emirate most itineraries never leave the capital to see
The route runs in a loop. Days one to three: the capital and its interiors, the Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan, the Louvre. Days four and five: Saadiyat's beach and museums at half pace. Day six: east to Al Ain, the UNESCO listed oasis, the camel market and the Jebel Hafeet ascent. Days seven and eight: south through the desert edge to Liwa, with dune driving and a night at the Empty Quarter. Days nine and ten: back along the coast for a final capital day and departure.

The circuit, and why the order matters
The loop runs city first and desert last, deliberately. Arrival energy suits the capital's structured days; by the second half the trip has slowed and the desert lands with full effect. Al Ain sits mid route as the hinge: a garden city pause between the coast and the sands, with the Jebel Hafeet sunset as the halfway landmark.
Each leg is a touring day rather than a transfer: the coast road, the oasis falaj channels, the dune highway south. The comparison shows the Grand Tour against the packages guests weigh it against.

Ten days, five landscapes
Days 1 to 3, the capital
City landmarks, properly
Arrival and three capital days: the Grand Mosque in morning light, Qasr Al Watan, the Louvre, the Corniche and the old souq quarter, each given room to breathe.
Days 4 to 5, Saadiyat
Island at half pace
Two Saadiyat days: beach mornings, museum afternoons, and dinner by the water. The deliberate slow chapter before the road east.
Day 6, Al Ain
Oasis and mountain
East to Al Ain: the UNESCO oasis and its falaj channels, the camel market, then the Jebel Hafeet road for sunset from the summit.
Days 7 to 8, Liwa
The Empty Quarter
South to Liwa for dune driving toward Tel Moreeb and a night at the desert's edge, under camp canvas or resort roof as chosen at booking.
Days 9 to 10, return
Coast road home
Return along the coast for a final free capital day, a last Corniche evening, and a private transfer to your flight.

Is ten days really justified for Abu Dhabi alone?
For the emirate, yes, and that is the distinction. Abu Dhabi emirate is 87 per cent of the UAE: the capital, Saadiyat, Yas, the Al Ain oasis, Jebel Hafeet and the Liwa desert are all inside it. The city needs three days; the emirate fills ten without repetition.
What is the Liwa overnight like?
Your choice of two formats. Authentic camping runs with our own desert team: tents, proper bedding, a campfire dinner and sunrise over the dunes. The resort basis swaps canvas for a desert hotel at a supplement. Both sit on the same circuit with the same dune driving.
How much driving is involved?
The longest legs are the capital to Al Ain, around 90 minutes, and Al Ain to Liwa, around three hours broken by stops. Every leg is chauffeured and built as a touring day with the route's landscapes as the point, not the price of admission.
Can days be swapped or the route shortened?
The circuit compresses to eight days by trimming Saadiyat or the final free day, and stretches with extra nights at any base. Yas Island theme parks can replace a capital day for families. Your draft itinerary is adjusted until it fits.
When is the best season for the Grand Tour?
October to April, when desert nights are cool and the mountain sunset is clear. The route runs in summer with adjusted timings, early mornings and indoor afternoons, and we advise honestly on what July and August feel like in the dunes.
