3. Residence Visas

Residence visas are designed for visitors requiring to stay for an extended length of time in Ras Al Khaimah or who wish to live and work there.

Once granted, a residence visa allows one to live and work as well as exit and re-enter RAK continuously.

The UAE government grants three residence visas to qualifying and eligible applicants.

4. Blue Visa

Launched May 2024, the Blue visa recognizes persons who have made exceptional progress and contributions toward the environment, encompassing marine, land and air sustainability in their country, or globally.

The Blue residence visa grants up to 10 years of residency. Visa holders may sponsor immediate family members for residency.

This visa is renewable upon expiry by the UAE Government.

If you are wondering about your eligibility for this residence visa, please contact Arabiers for further information and guidance.

5. Green Visa

This resident visa recognizes self-employed contractors, investors, or freelancers able to show a per annum income of at least US $100,000 or 360,000 AED over the last two years, and can show the ability to continue to do the same in the UAE. The visa also calls to foreign nationals who are highly qualified and skilled professionals such as legislators, scientists, physicians, and Directors and CEOs of world recognized brands.

An attractive benefit of this visa is that an applicant does not require to be sponsored for the visa by a UAE national or company.

Visas are granted for 5 years. Visa holders may sponsor immediate family members for residency.

6. Golden Visa

The Golden visa is perhaps considered the more attractive resident visa option in the UAE as it provides a 10-year residency. Investors, scientists, entrepreneurs, gifted and exceptional students/graduates, and humanitarian leaders specifically are eligible to apply for this visa.

As with the above two resident visas Visa holders may sponsor immediate family members for residency.

If you wish to know more about the golden visa, please do contact Arabiers for more details.

On Arrival Visa Extensions

On arrival visa holders staying in Ras Al Khaimah on a 14, 30, or 60-day visa may obtain an extension by one of the following processes :

  • Airport to Airport visa change to obtain a new tourist visa (prepaid 30, or 60-day)
  • Oman Border Run where the applicant exits Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE and travels to Oman. In Oman, the applicant may obtain a new RAK entry visa. During the visa processing time, the applicant can take a break and enjoy Oman for a few hours. Once the visa is granted, the visa holder may book a flight back to RAK
  • 90-day in-country visa You simply extend your visa without exiting RAK

30-day on arrival extensions

Nationals granted a 30-day on arrival visa upon entry are eligible for an extension of 20 days. They do receive a 10-day grace period for extension purposes automatically. The total days with the 20-day extension is 60 days (30+10+20).

90-day on arrival extensions

The 90-day on arrival visa holders have 180-day visa valid period. Once you consume 90 days straight away, You cannot get another on arrival visa until completing the visa validity period (which means you have to wait another 90 days to complete 180 days) In such a scenario, If you wish to extend you may process an extension via A2A or an Oman border run.

90-day on arrival extensions

This is applicable for Indian passport-holders only who hold one of the following :

  • A valid residence visa issued by UK or EU countries (with a minimum validity of 6 months)
  • A green card or visitor visa (valid at least for 6 months) issued by the USA

The visa holders pay 120 AED for the visa extension.

Although this is an on-arrival visa the UAE government urges Indian passport holders to apply for this on arrival visa before they travel. They must apply directly with the UAE General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Indian passport holders holding UK/US residency and traveling to RAK for a short visit :- Can apply for the 14-day on arrival visa through the GDRFA UAE government website

If they need to extend they may apply for another 14 days via GDRFA or directly with Immigration :- Simply process a 30-day prepaid visa with Arabiers

An additional and important point …

If you are eligible for the 30-day on arrival visa but you want to stay longer, you can also obtain a prepaid visa before you arrive in Ras Al Khaimah. This way you have two options to extend for 60 days total in Ras Al Khaimah :

  • The 30-day on arrival visa upon entry and then process an extension
  • Obtain the 60-day prepaid visa prior to traveling to Ras al Khaimah

Prepaid Visa Extension

  • If you are a 30, or 60-day prepaid visa holder, you can apply for a 30-day in-country visa extension twice, without exiting the UAE. The price for a 30-day extension is 1190 AED
  • You may do an A2A visa extension where you exit the UAE and obtain a 30, or 60-day, new prepaid visa
  • An Oman border run, which is similar to the above A2A extension process. You simply exit the border and obtain a new 30, or 60-day visa. This is a less expensive alternative to the A2A process
  • Obtain a 90-day in-country visa without exiting the UAE
