How to Convert your UAE Visit Visa to Residence Visa

How to Find a Job in UAE on Visit Visa?

Even though you are allowed to enter UAE and look for a job under the Visit visa, you cannot work in UAE without a working or residence visa.

If you would like to convert the visit visa to a residence visa in UAE without exiting the country, you first need to find an employer willing to hire you. The employer will help process your employment visa and work permit for the UAE.

Particular guidelines must be followed to obtain an employment visa in Dubai or any other emirate in the United Arab Emirates. These guidelines ensure that the rights of workers are protected.

You can process the UAE visa change without exiting after finding an employer.
You need a sponsor to apply for your residence visa on your behalfs, such as your employer, a travel agency, your spouse, or someone else. It is important to note that, similar to the entry permit, you cannot apply for your residence visa in most cases.

The employer will apply for a residence visa at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) of the relevant emirate in which you will live.

At the time of application, you will be required to pay a fee for the UAE Residence Visa, determined by the time remaining on your visa.

When your request is deemed satisfactory by the GDRFA, a Residence Visa will be affixed to your passport, and you will also be issued an Emirates ID valid for the same period as the visa. The UAE residence visa has several benefits, such as;

  • You can open a bank account
  • You can work for employers after getting a job
  • You can get a bank loan (personal or car loan)
  • You have visa-free access to several countries
  • Your children can attend government or private schools
  • You can get a driver’s license
  • You have access to government health services and health insurance

The length of time you are granted a UAE Residence Visa is determined by the reason you are traveling to the country; visas can be obtained for 1, 2, or 3 years and can be renewed.

What if you don’t get a Job and Overstaying in UAE?

The UAE visit visa is valid for 60 days, meaning you have 60 days in UAE to look for a job. If the 60 days are over and you are yet to get a job, you have the option to extend your visit visa or exit the country.

Any visitors who overstay the terms of their pre-paid or on-arrival visit visa will be subject to a fine of 100 AED per day beginning on the second day of their overstay and increasing to 200 AED on the third day and beyond.

Anyone who is a resident of the UAE and overstays with an expired residence visa will be subject to a fine of 125 AED on the first day of their violation and 25 AED per day after that.
