1. Abu Dhabi Visa for Filipino Nationals

For Filipinos, the UAE and in particular Abu Dhabi, is the second most visited destination in the world, either for visiting with family and loved ones, or for seeking work opportunities.

If you are a Filipino national planning to travel to Abu Dhabi for purposes of leisure and visiting with family and friends, you may be wondering if you need to purchase a visa for Abu Dhabi prior to traveling? The answer is yes.

You do need to obtain your prepaid Abu Dhabi visa prior to traveling as Filipino nationals are precluded from receiving an on arrival visa upon entry into Abu Dhabi. The good news is that obtaining the Abu Dhabi visa is a very simple process.

Depending on the purpose and requirements of your visit, your visa will be issued either for a 30, or 60-day length of stay in Abu Dhabi.

2. Visa Types Available

Prepaid Visas

Every traveler entering into any of the UAE emirates must obtain an entry visa which may be issued as an on-arrival visa or a prepaid visa.

As a Filipino national, you must obtain a prepaid visa to enter Abu Dhabi.

There are two types of prepaid visas that may be obtained; a single entry visa or a multiple entry visa. A multiple entry visa allows you to exit the UAE and re enter Abu Dhabi. Both visa types may be issued either for a 30 or 60-day stay.

  • Single entry 30-day visa
    • - Visa is issued for a stay not to exceed 30-days
    • - You cannot leave the country and try to reenter
  • Single entry 60-day visa
    • - Visa is issued for a stay not to exceed 60-days
    • - You cannot leave the country and try to reenter
  • Multiple entry 30-day visa
    • - Visa is issued for a stay not to exceed 30-days
    • - You may exit and reenter the country multiple times during your 30-day stay
  • Multiple entry 60-day visa
    • - Visa is issued for a stay not to exceed 60-days
    • - You may exit and reenter the country multiple times during your 60-day stay

Visa Validity period:

All issued visas typically have an issue date and an expiration date which is referred to as your visa’s validity period. If you are planning to travel to Abu Dhabi, you must travel during this validity period before your visa expires.

Once your visa expires and you have been unable to travel, you have to obtain a new visa.

Residence Visa Types

Filipino nationals considering living and working in Abu Dhabi may want to review their eligibility for the following UAE residence visa types.

This visa is typically issued to Filipino nationals who have secured employment with an employer based in Abu Dhabi and who is a UAE national. You are eligible to apply for the standard resident visa only if your UAE employer is prepared to sponsor you. Benefits of this visa include:

  • - Up to 3 years of residency in Abu Dhabi, however must be in Abu Dhabi at least once every 6 months (180 days)
  • - Ability to open a digital bank account such as Wio

This visa does not allow you the following:

  • - open local bank accounts
  • - obtain local insurances
  • - obtain a driving license

  • - open own business

Blue Visa

The Blue visa is a long-term residency visa for a period of up to 10 years.

The Blue visa recognizes persons who have made exceptional progress and contributions toward the environment, encompassing marine, land and air sustainability in their country, or globally.

Applicants who are currently working on sustainability projects in the UAE or are planning to, and who feel that they meet the above criteria should apply.

This visa is renewable upon expiry by the UAE Government.

Green Visa

If you are a Filipino national who is a self-employed contractor, investor, or freelancer and able to show a per annum income of at least US $100,000 or 360,000 AED over the last two years, and can show the ability to continue to do the same in the UAE, may apply for the Green visa.

The Green visa allows the visa holder to live and work in the UAE without requiring sponsorship by a UAE employer or national for a period of 5 years.

The applicant must have a specialized diploma or a Bachelor’s degree.

Golden Visa

The Golden visa is considered the most attractive resident visa option in the UAE. Filipino nationals who are investors, scientists, entrepreneurs, gifted and exceptional students/graduates, and humanitarian leaders, specifically, are eligible to apply for this visa.

A few of the benefits of this visa include:

  • - the ability to sponsor immediate family members
  • - a long period of residency of ten, or close to ten years
  • - sponsorship by a UAE employer/national not required
  • - The Golden visa is a ten-year residency program.

3. Documents Required

- you have to provide a completed application form, filled correctly and certified with your signature

● Photograph

- 6cm x6cm color photo of yourself taken against a white background

- your passport must be valid with at least 6 months remaining from your intended travel date

- passport must have at least two empty pages

- If you are obtaining a single entry visa, your bank statements over the past 3 months should reflect a bank balance of a minimum of 14,700 AED or 235,053.00 ₱ Philippine pesos.

- If you are obtaining a multiple entry visa, your bank statements over the past 3 months should reflect a balance of approximately 235,533.00₱ Philippine pesos or 15,000 AED approximately.

4. Visa Fees

When you apply for your prepaid Abu Dhabi visa, your visa fee is determined by the following:

5. Application Process

Step One – Preparing your Documents

6. Overstaying Fines

After experiencing the sights, attractions and adventure of Abu Dhabi, tourists tend to overstay, beyond the permitted length of stay on their visas.

While overstaying is not considered a criminal offense, nevertheless, all tourists who overstay are heavily fined by the UAE government. These fines are payable to Immigration when exiting Abu Dhabi.

Any visitor overstaying on a prepaid visa or on arrival visa will be fined 50 AED for each day they overstay beyond the permitted length of stay.

While overstaying leads to fines, it also places a note on your profile, which based on the severity of the overstay, may jeopardize future visa applications to Abu Dhabi and any of the other Emirates.

7. Visa Extension Options

As a Filipino national traveling on a prepaid visa, if you wish to extend your stay in Abu Dhabi, the UAE has renewal and extension options. You may extend your prepaid visa twice.

This is applicable to 30-day and 60-day visa holders. You may extend your visa for 30 days initially, and then extend for another 30 days. Altogether you would be able to obtain 60 extra days to stay in Abu Dhabi.

When extending your prepaid visa, you have several options:

  • - Express visa process You need to exit Abu Dhabi and travel back to the Philippines where you may request your Abu Dhabi visa via express visa processing.
    Upon obtaining your Abu Dhabi visa, you may travel back and re enter Abu Dhabi. The visa will be granted for 30-days.
  • - The Oman border-run is your second option provided you have an entry visa for Oman. You will exit Abu Dhabi and enter Oman. Upon entry into Oman, you may then begin processing an extension visa for Abu Dhabi. Once you receive the visa, all you have to do is return back and enjoy your stay in Abu Dhabi.

Al Jahili Fort

This fort in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi was established in 1891 by Al-Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa, head of the Al Falah family. He ordered the construction of what is today the Al Jahili fort to control the tribes that lived in Al Ain. The fort is one of the largest forts in the UAE.

Hudayriat Island
